😊 15 Ways to Brighten Someone’s Day (With Printables)

Kindness is contagious. Here are 15 ways to make someone smile!

15. Compliment them on something within their control. This could be a great personality trait that they have, or their fashion sense. Don't compliment something you think they're insecure about. This just brings to light that you noticed. Choose a compliment that feels sincere to say.

14. Send them a song you think they would like. You can do this over Facebook, email or text. Think of something lighthearted or related to a situation they're in, and send them a positive note/quotation with it.

13. Put together a meal for them. There are so many recipes at your fingertips on the internet. If you're not into cooking, buy your parents or coworkers, lunch or a snack. If you're low on funds, buy some gum in a typical flavor that everyone likes, such as Mint, and offer a piece to a friend.

12. Bake them something. This one doesn't have to be hard if you aren't a great baker. You can still make your treats special in these ways: -Use a unique shaped cookie cutter.

-Use colorful food dye.

-Do special monogram cookies with the letter of the person's name on them.

-Make cupcakes with patterned liners, and matching frosting.

11. Help them with something you don't usually. Random acts of kindness require some selflessness. Think of what others could really use help with, even if it's just lending an ear.

10. Be willing to spend time with others doing what they want to do. Let them use the remote, pick the restaurant sometimes. This could even include your pets, taking them to the park or sitting on the floor and playing with them.

9. Be patient with others. If your card doesn't process at the grocery store, be patient with the clerk trying to fix the POS system. Stay calm and patient when things don't go your way.

8. Send them an e-card. Send them a card for fun. Here's a few I created for you! To save them, left click with your mouse and click the button, Save Image As.

7. Write them a letter on cute stationery. Remember the last time you got a letter in the mail with your name on it. It wasn't a bill, and you slanted your head at it, and enjoyed the feeling of not knowing what was in there. Give someone else that feeling by writing a letter, and including a small gift or candy inside. Tell them about your life by sharing the beauty, not by bragging. Be inquisitive about theirs in a way that makes them feel loved. Oh, and use some pretty stationery. To the right is some line art butterfly paper from my Etsy shop that you can easily print and use the same day! (The photo is linked.)

6. Smile with your eyes. When I greet people in public at work, half the time I am met with a wall, but I really appreciate people who are open to the world, which is obvious when I hear them say "Hello". And I'm even more impressed by people who are smiling under their masks, so this act of kindness is to smile with your eyes.

5. Tell a minimum wage worker that they did a good job. Tell them directly, instead of their manager, unless the manager is already standing nearby.

4. Buy coffees for your family or friends. Don't leave anyone out who will be where you're going. You can also do fun drinks the minor holidays. I did shamrock shakes the week before Paddy's Day.

3. Buy flowers for someone, or for your family's table. Flowers represent beauty, life and hope. It's no wonder the famous artist Monet said, "I must have flowers, always and always." Plus, how great is it that they pop up in so many places? Last summer while I was driving home, I saw that on the side of my road there was about a mile of wildflowers. I got out of my car and picked bundles, then got home with a big smile on my face and put together this bouquet. So buy some flowers, or be creative and work with what you can find. 🌸 🌼 🌻 ✿ ❀ ✾ 💐 🌷

2. Make someone a gift. If you are good at writing, write them a short, sweet poem. If you are good at making jewelry, make them a special piece! Wrap it in matching wrapping paper, play with color and texture like an artist, use ribbon, stickers.

1. Tell them you love them. And tell them why. Always say I love you before you leave the house or get off the phone. Look the person in the eye and be present.
